ISLAMABAD: The first contingent of the Sri Lanka men’s cricket team has arrived in Islamabad ahead of the upcoming three-match T20 International series against Pakistan.

The 13-member group landed at Islamabad International Airport and comprises eight players from Sri Lanka’s T20I squad and five members of the team management.

Eight Players Reach Islamabad

Sri Lanka’s T20I captain Kusal Mendis, along with Dasun Shanaka, Maheesh Theekshana, Eshan Malinga, Kamindu Mendis, Lahiru Udara, Chamindu Wickramasinghe and Dunith Wellalage, are among the players who have reached the federal capital.

Additional members of the touring party are scheduled to arrive in phases, with the remaining players expected to complete Sri Lanka’s squad in Pakistan ahead of the opening fixture.

Three T20Is in Rawalpindi

Pakistan and Sri Lanka will contest all three T20Is at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, with matches scheduled for October 9, 11 and 13.

The series forms part of a broader international cricket programme in Pakistan. After the T20Is, Sri Lanka will join hosts Pakistan and England for an ODI tri-series scheduled across Rawalpindi and Lahore later in October. Sri Lanka is also due to play a three-day warm-up match in Islamabad in November before a two-Test series against Pakistan.

Sri Lanka’s latest visit also marks its first bilateral short-format tour of Pakistan since 2019, adding further significance to the upcoming fixtures.
