Islamabad traffic police launches Online Licensing Services for Residents at Home
Learner permits, licence renewals and duplicate applications will no longer be handled at traffic offices; renewed and duplicate licences will be delivered to citizens through TCS courier service.

ISLAMABAD: October 18, 2026: Islamabad Traffic Police has announced a major change in its driving licence services, allowing residents of the federal capital to apply for learner driving permits, renew existing licences and obtain duplicate licences online without visiting traffic police offices.
The new arrangement will take effect on Monday, October 19, under the directions of Inspector General of Police Islamabad, Captain (Retd) Muhammad Sohail Chaudhry.
According to an official announcement issued by the Islamabad Police spokesperson, applications for these three services will be processed through the Islamabad Traffic Police online portal, enabling citizens to complete their applications from home.
Three Licensing Services to Move Online
In an important change to the existing system, Islamabad Traffic Police has announced that learner permit applications, driving licence renewals and duplicate licence services will no longer be available at the Traffic Headquarters in Faizabad or other Police Khidmat Marakaz from October 19.
Citizens seeking these services have been advised to use the official online platform instead of visiting the relevant offices.
The decision is aimed at reducing unnecessary visits to licensing centres, minimizing waiting times and making routine licensing procedures more convenient for residents.
The announcement specifically concerns these three categories and does not indicate the discontinuation of other traffic police services, including driving tests and fresh permanent driving licence procedures.
Renewed and Duplicate Licences to Be Delivered Through TCS
One of the most significant features of the new arrangement is the introduction of home delivery for renewed and duplicate driving licences.
Chief Traffic Officer Islamabad Kainat Azhar Khan announced that completed renewed and duplicate licences would be dispatched directly to applicants’ residential addresses through TCS courier service.
Under the revised system, citizens will no longer need to make additional trips to traffic police offices simply to collect their renewed or replacement driving licences.
The home-delivery arrangement applies to renewed and duplicate licences, while learner permit applications will be handled through the online system.
Applicants Advised to Provide Accurate Information
CTO Kainat Azhar Khan emphasized that applicants must provide complete and accurate personal information when submitting online applications.
Citizens have been instructed to enter their full names, correct residential addresses and active mobile phone numbers to ensure smooth processing and delivery.
She cautioned that incomplete or incorrect residential addresses could result in delays in the delivery of driving licences.
The department has therefore urged applicants to carefully review their information before submitting their requests through the online portal.
Official Online Portal for Applicants
Residents can access Islamabad Traffic Police’s Driving Licence Information Management System through the official website:
https://dlims.islamabadpolice.gov.pk
The online platform is also accessible through the Islamabad Police website at https://islamabadpolice.gov.pk/.
Applicants are advised to follow the instructions provided on the official portal regarding registration, documentation and applicable charges.
The police announcement did not specify a standard delivery period or separate courier charges for the newly introduced home-delivery arrangement.
Police Prioritize Digital Services and Public Convenience
The initiative is part of Islamabad Police’s broader efforts to modernize public service delivery through technology and improve access to essential services.
The latest changes follow earlier directions from IGP Muhammad Sohail Chaudhry to further improve driving licence facilities and make traffic-related public services more accessible to citizens.
CTO Kainat Azhar Khan reiterated that Islamabad Traffic Police remains committed to introducing modern, efficient and user-friendly online facilities.
She maintained that public convenience and saving citizens’ valuable time remain among the department’s foremost priorities.
With the new arrangement taking effect on October 19, Islamabad residents seeking learner permits, driving licence renewals or duplicate licences are being advised to use the designated online system rather than visiting licensing counters for these services.
