CDA Chairman Summoned in 26-Year-Old Court Case

The court had earlier issued arrest warrants for the CDA chairman in the same case. Barrister Hasnain Haider Thaheem appeared on behalf of the petitioner.

ISLAMABAD: The District and Sessions Court in Islamabad has issued a show-cause notice to the Capital Development Authority (CDA) chairman and directed him to appear in person at the next hearing in a case concerning the implementation of a court decree issued in 2000.

The case, titled Muhammad Rashid versus Chairman CDA, was heard by Civil Judge Nasiruddin. The court had previously issued arrest warrants in connection with the matter.

Rashid obtained a decree in his favour in 2000. The case later reached the Supreme Court, which upheld the decision, according to the Associated Press of Pakistan (APP).

Land Acquisition Dispute and Outstanding Benefits

Rashid maintains that he is among those affected by the CDA’s land acquisition. He says the authority acquired his land but has not provided the benefits he claims under its rehabilitation and resettlement policy. He told the court that the decree had not been fully implemented despite the earlier decisions.

Barrister Hasnain Haider Thaheem appeared for Rashid and asked the court to ensure effective and complete implementation of the decree.

CDA Chairman Directed to Appear in Court

After hearing the application, the court issued the show-cause notice and ordered the CDA chairman to attend the next hearing in person. It also directed the relevant officials to ensure compliance and face legal proceedings in connection with implementation.

The date of the next hearing was not stated in the report. The latest order concerns enforcement of the decree; the claims about outstanding benefits are the petitioner’s position.
