Fake Magistrate Staff Arrested in Islamabad After DC’s Secret Operation

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad district administration has arrested a man accused of impersonating a magistrate’s staff member and allegedly using the administration’s name to intimidate traders and extract money. The suspect was caught during a covert operation ordered by Deputy Commissioner Islamabad after repeated complaints from the business community.
According to the First Information Report (FIR) registered at Industrial Area Police Station under Sections 170, 342, 506 and 34 of the Pakistan Penal Code, the accused, identified as Usama, along with his accomplices, allegedly posed as officials of the district administration and carried out unauthorized inspections and actions against traders.
The FIR states that the district administration had been receiving complaints that individuals were falsely introducing themselves as members of a magistrate’s staff, threatening shopkeepers and demanding money while misusing the name of the administration. Acting on the deputy commissioner’s directions, a special covert team monitored the suspects and allegedly caught them red-handed during an operation.

According to the complainant, the accused falsely claimed to have official authority and unlawfully detained and threatened citizens during the incident. Following the operation, police registered a criminal case and launched further investigations to identify and arrest other alleged accomplices.
Deputy Commissioner Islamabad said the administration would adopt zero tolerance against anyone misusing the name of the district administration or harassing traders and citizens. He urged the business community to immediately report any person claiming to represent the administration without proper identification.
The deputy commissioner also emphasized that a strict internal accountability mechanism is already in place within the district administration and that any officer found exceeding legal authority would also face disciplinary and legal action.
District administration has appealed to traders and the public to cooperate with law enforcement by promptly reporting suspicious individuals impersonating government officials.
