Islamabad Police Issues Traffic Plan for Independence Day Parade
Several roads leading towards D-Chowk and the Independence Day parade venue will remain restricted on Friday, with Islamabad Police advising motorists to use designated alternative routes and parking areas.
ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Police has issued a special traffic diversion and parking plan for Blue Area in connection with the Independence Day parade being held on Friday, August 14, advising residents and visitors to plan their journeys in advance to avoid inconvenience.
Road Closures Around D-Chowk
Under the announced plan, traffic movement will be restricted on several roads around D-Chowk, Jinnah Avenue and adjoining areas while the Independence Day event is underway.
According to the traffic advisory, Jinnah Avenue between China Chowk and D-Chowk will remain closed to traffic in both directions. Motorists approaching from China Chowk have been advised to use Fazal-e-Haq Service Road, while traffic from the D-Chowk side can use Nazimuddin Road as an alternative.
The road from Bazaar Chowk towards Express Chowk will also remain closed, with motorists advised to use Begum Sarfraz Road.
Similarly, traffic travelling from Embassy Road towards Express Chowk will face restrictions, and Luqman Hakeem Road has been designated as an alternative route.
The Nazimuddin Road T-cross towards Ayub Chowk will also be closed.
Motorists have been advised to travel via Super Market and use the China Underpass.
Alternative Routes Announced
Traffic from Secretariat Chowk towards D-Chowk will be restricted, with Margalla Road recommended as the alternative.
The advisory further states that the route from Radio Pakistan Chowk towards D-Chowk will remain closed. Motorists travelling through the area can instead use Aabpara, Suhrawardy Road, Seventh Avenue and Margalla Road, depending on their destination.
Special Parking Arrangements
Special parking arrangements have also been announced for people attending the Independence Day parade.
Visitors have been directed to park cars and motorcycles along Fazal-e-Haq Service Road in Blue Area and Nazimuddin Road.
The diversion plan is aimed at regulating traffic around the parade venue and managing the expected movement of visitors during Independence Day celebrations in the federal capital.
Traffic Updates and Public Advisory
Islamabad Police has advised residents to follow its official social media platforms, FM 92.4 and the Islamabad Traffic Police WhatsApp channel for further traffic updates.
Motorists travelling towards Blue Area, D-Chowk and the Red Zone have been advised to allow additional travel time and follow directions issued by traffic personnel deployed on the roads.
Pakistan is celebrating its 79th Independence Day on Friday, with public festivities and official events taking place across Islamabad.
