PEIRA Honours Islamabad Private Schools for Supporting Underprivileged Children

Certificates awarded to institutions implementing 10% scholarships, free education, and admissions for out-of-school children under the Right to Free and Compulsory Education Act.

ISLAMABAD: The Private Educational Institutions Regulatory Authority (ICT-PEIRA) has honoured a number of private educational institutions in Islamabad with certificates of appreciation for their outstanding contribution to educational and social welfare initiatives aimed at expanding access to quality education.

The certificates were awarded to institutions that fully implemented key initiatives of the authority, including the provision of 10 percent scholarships to deserving students under the Right to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2012, free education for children from underprivileged backgrounds, and admission of out-of-school children referred by PEIRA.

The certificate distribution ceremony was attended by ICT-PEIRA Chairman Dr Ghulam Ali Mallah as the chief guest, while Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE) Chairman Prof Dr Ikram Ali Malik participated as the guest of honour. Senior PEIRA officials, heads of private educational institutions, representatives of the award-winning schools, and other distinguished guests also attended the event.

Addressing the ceremony, Dr Ghulam Ali Mallah praised the role of private educational institutions, saying they were not only providing quality education but were also fulfilling an important social responsibility by creating educational opportunities for children who might otherwise remain out of school due to financial or social barriers.

He said the cooperation of the private sector was playing a vital role in the effective implementation of the Right to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2012, particularly through scholarships, free education for deserving students, and the enrolment of out-of-school children into the formal education system.

Dr Mallah also thanked the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training for its continued support, stating that the ministry’s guidance had enabled PEIRA to continue educational reforms and public service initiatives. He reaffirmed the authority’s commitment to working closely with private schools to ensure equitable access to quality education for every child.

Speaking on the occasion, FBISE Chairman Prof Dr Ikram Ali Malik appreciated the contribution of private educational institutions and their teachers, observing that despite limited resources and comparatively lower salaries, teachers in the private sector continued to play a significant role in shaping the nation’s future.

He also commended PEIRA for formally recognising institutions that have contributed to providing educational opportunities to children from disadvantaged segments of society.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, certificates of appreciation were presented to representatives of institutions that demonstrated exemplary compliance with PEIRA’s educational and social initiatives. Participants reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation between the government, regulatory authorities, and the private education sector to ensure equal access to quality education for every child.
