Most-Wanted Suspect Zargam Killed in CCD Operation Near Haripur
CCD Rawalpindi sources say the suspect was wanted in at least 15 criminal cases, including cases registered under anti-terrorism, kidnapping, murder, attempted murder, extortion, narcotics and arms laws.
RAWALPINDI: A wanted suspect identified as Zargam was killed during an operation conducted by the Crime Control Department in the Khala Bat area of Haripur, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, according to CCD Rawalpindi sources.
Officials said the suspect had been wanted by law enforcement agencies in connection with multiple criminal cases registered across Attock, Rawalpindi, Islamabad and different parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Police Record Lists 15 FIR Entries
According to a police record shared with Islamabad Tribune, Zargam’s name and identity particulars were linked with 15 FIR entries. The available record includes cases carrying provisions of the Anti-Terrorism Act, 1997, the Telegraph Act, 1885, the Punjab Arms Amendment Ordinance, 2015, and the Control of Narcotic Substances law, along with various sections of the Pakistan Penal Code.

The police record also indicates that the legal status of the listed cases varied. Some entries are marked as pending or under process, several show the suspect as a proclaimed offender, while at least two entries reflect acquittal or disposal. Therefore, inclusion in the record does not by itself establish guilt in every listed case.
Operation Launched on Intelligence
According to CCD sources, the Haripur operation was launched after intelligence regarding the suspect’s presence in Khala Bat. Officials claimed that when personnel attempted to arrest him, he allegedly opened indiscriminate fire and tried to escape while using women and children as human shields.
Exchange of Fire Followed
CCD sources said an exchange of fire followed, during which Zargam was killed. Officials further stated that the women and children present at the location were safely rescued.
Following the encounter, personnel from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police and the CCD remained at the scene, while a search operation was launched to trace and apprehend the suspect’s alleged associates.
Officials described the operation as a major law-enforcement success, claiming Zargam had remained wanted in serious criminal cases for several years. However, the circumstances of the encounter, the allegations against the deceased and the precise status of each FIR have not been independently verified.
