Mohsin Naqvi Approves Nationwide Online Police Clearance Certificate System
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi chaired a high-level meeting at the National Police Bureau, approving a unified nationwide system for Police Clearance Certificates and directing the development of a standardized mechanism for International Driving Permits while paying tribute to police martyrs.
ISLAMABAD: Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi visited the National Police Bureau (NPB) on Tuesday, where he chaired an important high-level meeting focusing on police reforms and improved public service delivery.
Tribute to Police Martyrs
The meeting began with participants paying tribute to police martyrs ahead of Police Martyrs’ Day. Addressing the meeting, Mohsin Naqvi said the sacrifices of police personnel for maintaining peace and eliminating crime would always be remembered. He described police martyrs as “the crown on our heads” and said their sacrifices could never be repaid, reaffirming the government’s continued support for the families of fallen officers.
Nationwide Police Clearance Certificate System
During the meeting, the Interior Minister gave principle approval for introducing a uniform nationwide Police Clearance Certificate system. Under the new mechanism, the National Police Bureau will issue Police Clearance Certificates through a centralized process.
Mohsin Naqvi said the previously complicated procedure has been redesigned to become faster and fully online. Citizens will be able to apply for and obtain Police Clearance Certificates from their homes through the National Police Bureau’s online portal, reducing processing time and improving convenience.
International Driving Permit System
The Interior Minister also directed officials to develop a standardized nationwide system for International Driving Permits, saying a unified mechanism for both Police Clearance Certificates and International Driving Permits would significantly facilitate Pakistanis travelling or working abroad.
He emphasized that making the National Police Bureau a more active and dynamic institution remains a government priority.
Inspection of NPB Headquarters
Following the meeting, Mohsin Naqvi inspected the ongoing renovation and upgradation of the National Police Bureau building, where the Director General of the NPB briefed him on the institution’s performance and future plans.
