Interior Minister Expresses Anger Over Absence of Emergency 1122 System in Islamabad
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi chaired a high-level meeting at CDA Headquarters, directing authorities to launch work on the Kashmir Chowk and Faisal Mosque underpasses next month while ordering urgent activation of Capital Emergency Services and reviewing Islamabad's major development projects.
ISLAMABAD: Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Wednesday chaired a high-level meeting at the Capital Development Authority (CDA) Headquarters to review the progress of ongoing and upcoming development projects across Islamabad.
During the meeting, officials presented detailed briefings on major infrastructure initiatives aimed at improving public convenience and easing traffic congestion in the federal capital.
New Underpasses and Emergency Services
The Interior Minister announced that construction of two new underpasses at Kashmir Chowk and Faisal Mosque will begin next month as part of efforts to improve traffic flow on key corridors.
Expressing strong displeasure over the absence of a fully operational Emergency 1122 system in Islamabad, Mohsin Naqvi directed officials to take emergency measures to establish an effective Capital Emergency Services framework without delay.
He instructed the relevant authorities to complete all legal formalities and immediately initiate work on four new Capital Emergency Services centres to strengthen emergency response capabilities in the city.
Revenue Generation and Expressway Project
The meeting also reviewed proposals aimed at increasing CDA’s permanent revenue streams. The Interior Minister directed the authority to develop a sustainable long-term revenue model to achieve financial self-reliance.
“Development projects and the financial stability of the institution are equally important,” Naqvi said, directing officials to ensure swift progress on practical revenue-generating initiatives.
He further instructed that work on the Islamabad Expressway Service Road Project must be completed strictly according to the approved timeline.
Officials also briefed the meeting on the progress of several mega development projects and future planning for the federal capital.
