PTI Leaders, Dozens of Workers Booked in Islamabad Over Rally Amid Section 144
Police say the rally on Colonel Sher Khan Road violated Section 144, disrupted traffic, and allegedly involved obstruction of officials, stone-pelting, and scuffles. Five people have been arrested, while efforts are underway to apprehend other nominated and unidentified suspects.
ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders and workers at Industrial Area Police Station over an alleged violation of Section 144 during a rally held on Colonel Sher Khan Road.
Police Allegations
According to the police FIR, the case was lodged on the complaint of police officials after participants allegedly organized a rally despite restrictions imposed under Section 144. Police claimed they instructed protesters to disperse, but the gathering allegedly continued.
The FIR includes charges related to obstructing public servants in the discharge of official duties, creating a public disturbance, blocking the road, and disrupting traffic flow. Police have also alleged that some protesters resorted to stone-pelting and scuffled with police personnel during the operation.
Among those nominated in the case are Aamir Mughal, Malik Aamir, Naeem Arain, and Basharat Kakakhel, along with several other PTI leaders. The FIR also names 40 to 50 unidentified individuals.
Police further alleged that protesters parked vehicles on Colonel Sher Khan Road, causing significant traffic disruption in the area.
Arrests and Investigation
According to Islamabad Police, five individuals have been arrested during the operation, while raids and further efforts are continuing to arrest the remaining nominated and unidentified suspects.
