Pakistan Nazriyati Party Calls for Creation of More Provinces to Improve Governance
Party Chairman Shaheer Haider Malik says Pakistan needs administrative reforms, additional provinces, new water reservoirs, and greater youth participation to address governance and economic challenges.
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Nazriyati Party (PNP) has called for the creation of more provinces in Pakistan, arguing that administrative reforms are essential to improve governance, public service delivery, and equitable distribution of resources.
Call for New Provinces and Water Reservoirs
Addressing a press conference at the Islamabad Press Club, Party Chairman Shaheer Haider Malik said Pakistan’s current administrative structure is no longer capable of effectively managing the country’s growing population. He questioned how a single chief minister could efficiently govern a province with nearly 150 million people, stressing that the establishment of new provinces had become a national necessity.
He also urged the government to construct small and medium-sized water reservoirs across the country to store floodwater, strengthen agriculture, and tackle future water shortages. Referring to the long-debated Kalabagh Dam project, Malik claimed that many of Pakistan’s water and flood-related challenges could have been mitigated had the project been completed earlier.
Political Criticism and Economic Proposal
During the press conference, party representatives also criticized the existing political system, alleging that a few influential families dominate politics in Balochistan and Sindh, while claiming that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had failed to meet public expectations during its years in office. These remarks reflect the party’s political position and allegations.
The party further proposed promoting cottage industries through funds allocated under the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), arguing that such an initiative could help generate employment opportunities at the household level.
