Sparco Plaza in Islamabad Designated as Sub-Jail for FIA-Held Suspects
Chief Commissioner Islamabad has designated Sparco Plaza in Gulberg Greens as a sub-jail/lock-up for individuals arrested by the Federal Investigation Agency, placing security responsibility with the FIA director general and assigning record maintenance to an officer of at least BPS-17.
ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Capital Territory administration has declared Sparco Plaza in Gulberg Greens a sub-jail/lock-up for the detention of individuals arrested by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), according to an official notification dated August 11, 2026.
Sparco Plaza Designated as Detention Facility
The notification, issued by the Office of the Chief Commissioner, Islamabad Capital Territory, states that the designation has been made following a request from the Office of the District Magistrate, Islamabad.
According to the order, Sparco Plaza in Gulberg Greens will serve as a designated detention facility for individuals arrested by the FIA.
The security of the sub-jail/lock-up, as well as the persons detained there, will be the responsibility of the Director General of the Federal Investigation Agency, Islamabad.
The notification further states that records relating to the facility will be maintained by a designated FIA officer not below the rank of BPS-17.
Order Effective Immediately
The order has come into force with immediate effect and will remain applicable until further orders.
The notification cites Section 541 of the Code of Criminal Procedure alongside other legal provisions as the basis for the designation. Section 541 deals with the government’s power to determine the place where a person liable to imprisonment or committed to custody may be confined.
The notification has also been forwarded for information to relevant authorities, including the Ministry of Interior and Narcotics Control, FIA, Islamabad Police and the District Magistrate Islamabad.
