I-14 Residents Sound Alarm Over Dangerous Road
Images shared by a resident show badly damaged and uneven sections of Service Road North in Sector I-14, while previous official statements indicate the sector has been included in CDA’s infrastructure rehabilitation plans.

ISLAMABAD: Residents of Sector I-14 have renewed calls for urgent intervention by the Capital Development Authority (CDA), raising concerns over the deteriorated condition of Service Road North and describing sections of the route as a potential safety hazard for motorists and motorcyclists.
Residents Raise Safety Concerns
Photographs shared on social media on August 16 show portions of the road with an uneven and largely unpaved surface, loose gravel and apparent erosion along the roadside.

The citizen who posted the images claimed the route is regularly used by residents, students, school vans, cars and motorcycles and alleged that its condition has contributed to accidents.
Islamabad Tribune could not independently verify the reported number or circumstances of any accidents linked specifically to the damaged section. However, the photographs accompanying the complaint visibly show significant deterioration of the road surface.
Long-Running Infrastructure Concerns
The latest complaint comes against a longer-running backdrop of infrastructure concerns in Sector I-14.
In February 2026, residents had urged the CDA to address incomplete civic facilities in the sector, including roads, streetlights, drainage and sewerage infrastructure.
At the time, a CDA spokesperson said a survey had been conducted and that rehabilitation and upgradation work was being pursued, including re-carpeting roads and streets and improving drainage and sewerage systems.
CDA’s own Engineering Wing identifies I-14 among the sectors falling under its Roads Directorate South, whose responsibilities include maintenance of developed sectors south of Kashmir Highway and infrastructure involving service roads, major roads and associated works.
Service Road Previously Subject to Development Work
The issue is particularly notable because Service Road North in I-14 has previously been the subject of development and reconstruction initiatives.
CDA’s published project records list construction of Service Road North in Sector I-14 among its completed projects, while a 2024 report documented a tender for reconstruction work on the North and West service roads of the sector.
More recently, CDA’s broader rehabilitation programme has also included streets in Sector I-14 as part of efforts to upgrade Islamabad’s older and previously neglected sectors.
Residents Call for Immediate Repairs
The latest images have therefore renewed questions among residents about the present condition of the service road and the implementation and maintenance of infrastructure works in the sector.
Residents are calling on CDA authorities to inspect the affected stretch, repair dangerous sections and ensure proper drainage before further deterioration makes travelling more difficult, particularly during rainfall.
No specific official response to the August 16 social-media complaint was located at the time of publication. Islamabad Tribune will update the report if CDA or another relevant authority issues a response.
