Islamabad Police Brass Visits Shifa Ahead of Imran Khan Transfer

Islamabad and Rawalpindi authorities have prepared security arrangements following the Supreme Court’s order to move the incarcerated PTI founder from Adiala Jail to Shifa International Hospital, while the government’s review petition has been returned with objection.

ISLAMABAD: Security arrangements have been prepared in Islamabad and Rawalpindi for the transfer of former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf founder Imran Khan from Adiala Jail to Shifa International Hospital, following an order issued by the Supreme Court.

Security Officials Review Transfer Arrangements

According to reports citing official sources, senior officials from relevant security institutions held consultations in Islamabad to review arrangements surrounding the possible movement of the incarcerated former premier.

The security plan is expected to be implemented in accordance with the court’s written directions and related administrative requirements.

Supreme Court Orders Hospital Transfer

The Supreme Court had ordered that Imran Khan be shifted to Shifa International Hospital in Islamabad for medical examination and treatment.

The court also directed that Dr Faisal Sultan and Dr Uzma Khan be allowed to accompany him.

The federal government raised an objection during proceedings, arguing that it had not been issued notice before the direction was passed. The court made the objection part of its order.

Government Review Petition Returned

The matter took another legal turn on Thursday, August 20, when the Supreme Court Registrar’s Office returned the federal government’s review petition challenging the hospital-transfer order.

Sources cited by Geo News said the government intends to file the petition again after addressing the Registrar’s Office’s objections.

The development means the Supreme Court’s hospital-transfer direction remains central to the situation while further legal proceedings are anticipated.

Security Concerns Along Transfer Route

Security surrounding any movement between Adiala Jail and Islamabad is particularly significant because of the former prime minister’s political profile and the possibility of supporters gathering along the route or near the hospital.

Authorities have therefore been preparing coordinated security measures in both Islamabad and Rawalpindi.

Earlier medical examinations of Imran Khan have involved specialists from PIMS and eye-care experts, amid continuing concerns and competing claims over his health and treatment.
