IESCO Announces Power Shutdowns Across Twin Cities
Construction and network-related work will affect dozens of localities, with shutdown windows varying by feeder and area.

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) has announced scheduled electricity shutdowns across several parts of Islamabad and Rawalpindi on Saturday, August 22, as construction and other network-related work is carried out on multiple feeders.
Islamabad Areas to Face Power Interruptions
According to the shutdown schedules shared for IESCO’s Islamabad, Rawalpindi City and Rawalpindi Cantonment operation circles, electricity supply will remain suspended for varying periods depending on the feeder. The documents list construction work as the principal reason for the shutdowns on a number of 11kV feeders.
In Islamabad, one of the longest shutdown windows is listed from 5:00am to 12:00 noon for several feeders, affecting areas including Wahidabad, Bilal Town, Khanna Dak, Qutbal Town, UC-2, Burma Chowk, Java Road, Chhapar Road, Rehman Enclave, Sharifabad, Tarlai Kalan, KRL Road, Waris Valley, Ghauri Town and parts of Madina Town, according to the supplied schedule.
Other Islamabad feeders are scheduled for interruptions during different periods. Areas listed in the schedule include F-8/4, PIMS Hospital G-8/3, G-9/4, SUPARCO Chowk, G-8/1, G-8/4, G-8, G-8 Markaz and G-7/2, among others.
Different Shutdown Timings Listed
The Islamabad schedule shows some shutdown periods extending until 11:00 am, while another group of feeders is scheduled from 6:00 am to 10:00 am.
Rawalpindi Areas Also Affected
Rawalpindi will also see significant interruptions. In the Rawalpindi Cantonment operation circle, a shutdown from 7:00am to 10:00am is listed for several feeders serving areas including Adiala Road, Janjua Town, Mubarak Lane, Shahpur, Garden Villas, Sanobar City, Gorakhpur, Journalist Colony, Dhoke Baba, Dhoke Noor, Gulshanabad, Defence Road, Adiala Jail, Askari-14 Sector D and Punjab Society.
The Rawalpindi City schedule separately lists interruptions affecting Westridge, Peshawar Road, H-13, Khanna Road, Shakrial, Misrial Road, Range Road, Chur Chowk, Race Course and adjoining localities. Depending on the feeder, the scheduled shutdowns range from early morning until as late as noon.
Consumers Advised to Check Feeder Timings
Importantly, the schedules provided indicate that the interruption periods are not uniform across Islamabad and Rawalpindi. Consumers should therefore check their specific feeder and locality rather than assuming a citywide shutdown for the entire period.
Shutdowns Linked to Planned Network Work
The schedules identify planned construction and network works rather than an unplanned electricity breakdown. Residents in affected areas may want to charge essential devices and make arrangements for water pumps, home offices and other electricity-dependent needs during their respective shutdown windows.
The uploaded schedule is dated August 22, 2026 (Saturday). Independent web searches did not surface the same detailed schedule on IESCO’s indexed official pages at the time of checking, so the precise feeder-wise timings above are based on the schedule images supplied for this report.
