ISLAMABAD: The Collectorate of Customs (Enforcement), Islamabad, has reported a major narcotics seizure near the M-2 Motorway, recovering approximately 1,200 kilograms of charas with the overall seizure valued at around Rs5.41 billion.

Major Narcotics Seizure

The operation was carried out by the Anti-Smuggling Squad at approximately 2:30am on October 2 after officials received information about the movement of a large narcotics consignment, according to details released by Pakistan Customs and reported by state-run Radio Pakistan.

Customs officials said the operation resulted in the recovery of approximately 1,200kg of charas, 100kg of poppy seeds, one firearm and a non-customs-paid Toyota Prado, model 2005. The vehicle was allegedly being used to transport the consignment.

According to the official account, the individuals allegedly transporting the consignment fled after noticing the Customs team, taking advantage of darkness. Officials subsequently took the vehicle and recovered items into custody.

Narcotics Valued at Rs5.40 Billion

Customs estimated the international market value of the seized narcotics at approximately Rs5.40 billion. When the vehicle and other seized items are included, the total estimated value rises to around Rs5.41 billion.

An FIR has been registered against unidentified suspects and further investigation is underway to identify those allegedly involved in transporting the consignment and determine whether a wider network was involved.

The operation represents one of the larger seizures recently reported by Islamabad Customs, with the agency saying it remains focused on preventing the movement of narcotics and other contraband.
