IBECHS Suffers Court Setback in 15-Kanal Land Dispute
Barrister Hasnain Haider Thaheem, Advocate Supreme Court, represented Amjad Ali in the land dispute as Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir upheld the lower courts’ decisions cancelling the disputed power of attorney and land mutation.

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court has dismissed a civil revision petition filed by the IB Employees Cooperative Housing Society (IBECHS), upholding two earlier court judgments in a land ownership dispute involving Amjad Ali.
Barrister Hasnain Haider Thaheem, Advocate Supreme Court, represented Amjad Ali in the proceedings. The court dismissed Civil Revision No. 179 of 2024, concluding that the concurrent judgments of the subordinate courts suffered from no illegality or material irregularity warranting interference.
Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir announced the decision on October 6, 2026, maintaining the earlier judgments that had cancelled a disputed general power of attorney dated May 16, 2014, and the associated land mutation.
Barrister Hasnain Haider Thaheem Represents Amjad Ali
Barrister Hasnain Haider Thaheem, Advocate Supreme Court, appeared for the respondent, Amjad Ali, according to the Islamabad High Court order sheet. His legal representation formed part of the proceedings in which the society’s challenge to the earlier judgments was dismissed.
The decision leaves the findings of the two subordinate courts intact, marking a significant development in the prolonged civil litigation over the disputed property documents.
Dispute Over Power of Attorney and Land Mutation
The case originated in a civil suit filed by Amjad Ali on September 15, 2017. He sought a declaration, cancellation of the general power of attorney and Mutation No. 3649, along with permanent and mandatory injunctions.
The dispute concerned a general power of attorney registered as Document No. 1261, Book No. 4, Volume 656, dated May 16, 2014.
The Civil Judge First Class, Islamabad East, decided the suit in Amjad Ali’s favour on January 16, 2024. The housing society subsequently challenged the decision before the Additional District Judge, Islamabad East, but its appeal was dismissed on April 19, 2024.
IBECHS then approached the Islamabad High Court through a civil revision petition under Section 115 of the Code of Civil Procedure.
Court Examines Evidence Regarding Disputed Documents
The High Court reviewed the record and noted that the lower courts had considered documentary evidence relating to the disputed power of attorney and mutation.
The record included an FIA communication dated September 12, 2022, which referred to alleged manipulation of identity records in connection with the property dispute. The communication was considered alongside other evidence and the findings recorded by the subordinate courts.
The High Court concluded that the lower courts had correctly assessed the available evidence and applied the relevant law.
Revision Petition Dismissed
In its concluding observations, the Islamabad High Court held that the concurrent judgments and decrees reflected a correct appreciation of the evidence and disclosed no illegality or material irregularity.
Accordingly, the civil revision petition filed by IBECHS was dismissed, leaving the earlier decisions in place.
The order sheet records Barrister Hasnain Haider Thaheem and Advocate Nazia Nawaz as counsel for the respondent, with Muhammad Yasir Chaudhry and Atif Jameel Abbasi appearing for the petitioner and Muhammad Irfan Malik and Tayyaba Khanum appearing as state counsel.
