CDA Backs Five Major Projects, Including Blue Area High-Rises

The Design Vetting Committee has given in-principle approval to two proposed Blue Area towers—one 659 feet tall and 45 storeys, the other 580 feet and 42 storeys—while three further projects remain subject to technical requirements.

ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has backed five major construction projects in Islamabad, including plans for two high-rise towers in the Blue Area.

According to details shared about the decision, the proposed 45-storey tower would reach 659 feet, while the second tower is planned at 580 feet across 42 storeys. The CDA’s Design Vetting Committee has also given in-principle approval to three other projects, subject to completion of technical requirements.

Blue Area High-Rise Projects

The proposals form part of a broader effort to encourage high-rise buildings, modern commercial plazas and international-standard hotels in the capital. The planned towers could add commercial space and create further business opportunities in the Blue Area.

Technical Review and Safety Standards

The committee’s review was conducted under the supervision of CDA Member Planning Muhammad Umair. The development drive is being pursued under the guidance of Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and CDA Chairman Sohail Ashraf, according to the details provided.

The CDA has said its Design Vetting Committee reviews building-plan cases under the ICT Building Control Regulations 2023. Structural stability, fire safety and other applicable technical standards will be required as the projects move through the approval process.
