Dr Anam Fatima’s Multiple Roles Draw Criticism After Tamgha-e-Imtiaz

Dr Anam Fatima, a PAS officer from the 47th Common, has come under intense public discussion after receiving the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz for her role in the Bari Imam anti-encroachment operation in Islamabad.

Currently, she has served in several influential positions simultaneously including Deputy DG CDA Enforcement, Chief Officer MCI, Director DMA, and Deputy Director Operations Islamabad Food Authority, although one role was recently surrendered.

The award and her multiple assignments have sparked mixed reactions online. Supporters are praising her active field presence and role in anti-encroachment operations, while critics are questioning how an officer with nearly six years of service was entrusted with multiple senior-level portfolios usually associated with more experienced officers.

Social media users are also revisiting her role as Returning Officer during the General Elections, particularly regarding the rejection of Monis Elahi’s nomination papers, along with a viral interaction clip where she addressed a citizen as “beta.”

The debate has now expanded into a wider conversation about bureaucratic influence, rapid career progression, administrative concentration of power, and political perception within Islamabad’s governance structure.
