Fresh Business Hour Restrictions Begin in Islamabad Today

ISLAMABAD: Business operating hours across the federal capital have been revised once again, with the Islamabad administration issuing a fresh notification introducing new closure timings under ongoing austerity measures.According to a notification issued by the Office of the District Magistrate, Islamabad, all shops, markets and shopping malls will be required to close by 8:00 PM throughout the week, including weekends, with effect from June 1, 2026.However, several sectors have been exempted from the restriction, including pharmacies, medical stores, hospitals, petrol pumps, CNG stations, milk and dairy shops, sports facilities, gyms, padel courts, and call centers and IT companies engaged with international clients.The notification further states that restaurants, food outlets, tandoors, grocery stores, kiryana shops, meat shops, fruit and vegetable vendors, bakeries and dry fruit shops will be allowed to operate until 10:00 PM. No restrictions have been imposed on takeaway or home delivery services.Marriage halls, marquees and other commercial venues hosting events will also be required to conclude activities by 10:00 PM, including functions held at private premises.The district administration said the revised timings are being enforced as part of ongoing government austerity measures and will remain effective until further orders.
