Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has approved revised business operating hours across the country as part of the government’s energy conservation drive aimed at reducing electricity consumption.According to a notification issued by the Cabinet Division, all shops, markets and shopping malls will now close at 9 PM. Wedding halls, marquees and commercial event venues will be required to cease operations by 10 PM, while restaurants, hotels and vegetable shops will remain open until 11 PM.
The notification states that medical stores, IT companies, tandoors, gyms and fuel stations have been exempted from the new restrictions and may continue operating under their existing schedules.The federal government has also directed provincial governments and local administrations to ensure effective implementation of the revised timings in their respective jurisdictions.
