IHC Summons DC, IGP Over Growing Number of Shisha Cafés in Islamabad
Islamabad High Court seeks details of licensed and unlicensed shisha cafés and orders top city officials to appear at the next hearing.

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday summoned the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Islamabad and the Inspector General (IG) of Islamabad Police in their personal capacity while hearing a petition concerning shisha cafés operating in the federal capital.
The case was heard by Chief Justice Sardar Muhammad Sarfraz Dogar on a petition filed by citizen Abdul Jabbar. Advocate Muhammad Suhail Khurshid represented the petitioner before the court.
During the hearing, the petitioner’s counsel requested the court to seek complete details of licensed and unlicensed shisha cafés in Islamabad. He also asked the court to direct the relevant authorities to explain the legal framework governing these establishments and the action taken against those allegedly operating in violation of the rules.
After hearing the arguments, the court issued notices to the Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Deputy Commissioner Islamabad and Inspector General of Islamabad Police, directing them to submit their replies.
The Islamabad High Court also ordered the Deputy Commissioner and the Inspector General of Islamabad Police to appear in person at the next hearing.
The case was adjourned until next week for further proceedings.
