Islamabad ATC Grants Bail to All 96 Accused in F-10 Kashmir Protest Case
Anti-Terrorism Court approves post-arrest bail against surety bonds of Rs5,000 each in Shalimar Police Station case; Senator Mushtaq Ahmad Khan and Razi Tahir among those granted relief.
ISLAMABAD: An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Islamabad on Monday granted post-arrest bail to all 96 accused in a case registered in connection with a Kashmir-related demonstration in the capital’s Sector F-10.
ATC Judge Abual Hasnat Muhammad Zulqarnain heard the bail applications and approved the release of all 96 accused against surety bonds of Rs5,000 each.
Those granted bail include Senator Mushtaq Ahmad Khan and Razi Tahir, along with other individuals booked in connection with the demonstration.
Prosecutor Raja Naveed Hussain Kiani appeared before the court on behalf of the state, while lawyers Sardar Masroof, Zahid Bashir Dar and Aamna Ali represented the accused.
During proceedings, Judge Zulqarnain also inquired about proceedings at the Islamabad High Court and remarked that he had been waiting, asking the parties not to arrive late.
Case Registered After F-10 Demonstration
The case was registered by Islamabad Police at Shalimar Police Station following a Kashmir-related demonstration in Sector F-10. The FIR includes provisions of Pakistan’s anti-terrorism law. The grant of bail does not amount to an acquittal, and the allegations in the case remain subject to judicial determination.
The bail decision follows several earlier hearings. On August 29, 59 accused were sent to jail on judicial remand after police did not seek further physical custody. At that stage, proceedings on the bail applications of all 96 accused were adjourned.
On September 1, the ATC sought arguments on the applications, but proceedings could not advance because the case record and investigating officer were unavailable. The matter was subsequently adjourned until September 7 after the record again could not be produced at the September 3 hearing.
