Eleven Women Among 22 FIA Officers Promoted to Inspector
Headquarters order upgrades sub-inspectors to BPS-16; further promotion board meetings expected in late October and early November.

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Investigation Agency has promoted 22 sub-inspectors to the rank of inspector with immediate effect, including an officer serving in its Islamabad Zone and another posted at the agency’s Immigration Wing at headquarters.
According to an office order dated October 27, the officials have been elevated from Basic Pay Scale 14 to BPS-16 following recommendations made by the Departmental Promotion Committee at its meeting the same day and approval from the FIA director general.

The order was issued from FIA headquarters in G-9/4, Mauve Area, Islamabad.
Khizar Hayat, serving in the Islamabad Zone, and Nadeem Akhtar, posted at the Immigration Wing at FIA headquarters, are among the promoted officers. Their inclusion gives the promotion round a direct connection to both the agency’s federal capital operations and its headquarters administration.
The list comprises 11 women and 11 men serving across several FIA zones and specialised postings.
Further Promotion Meetings Expected
In a statement supplied alongside the order, an FIA spokesperson said special measures were being taken on the instructions of Director General Dr Usman Anwar to advance officers’ promotion cases.
A board meeting to consider promotions from assistant sub-inspector to sub-inspector is expected on October 29, according to the spokesperson.
A further promotion board meeting concerning inspectors and other officers is expected in the first week of November.
These meetings concern additional promotion cases. The dates were described as expected, and the statement did not announce approvals or identify officers for those forthcoming rounds.
One-Year Probation and Existing Postings
The October 27 order provides that the 22 promoted officials will serve a probationary period of one year. It cites Section 6(2) of the Civil Servants Act, 1973, read with Rule 21(1) of the Civil Servants (Appointment, Promotion and Transfer) Rules, 1973.
The officers will remain at their current places of posting following promotion. However, the relevant director may transfer them within that director’s jurisdiction where considered appropriate.
The promotion order therefore changes the officers’ rank and pay scale without announcing a general reshuffle or their collective transfer to Islamabad.
Officers Promoted Across Multiple Zones
The women named in the order are Uzma Aslam of Lahore Zone; Kalsoom Baloch of Balochistan Zone; Sumaira Mehmood and Faryal Khan of Faisalabad Zone; Sultana Memon, Amber Baig, Ambreen Niaz and Zohra Chohan of Karachi Zone; Sara Mukhtar and Salma Jan of Peshawar Zone; and Sadia Kalsoom of Sukkur Zone.
The remaining officers are Ghulam Abbas and Arshad Mehmood of Gilgit-Baltistan Zone; Nadeem Akhtar of the Immigration Wing at headquarters; Muhammad Faheem and Zeeshan Shaikh of Karachi Zone; Rana Muhammad Mustehsan Khan and Khalid Mehmood of Faisalabad Zone; Muhammad Riaz Khan of Kohat Zone; Muhammad Tahir, listed against PS CTW FIA Karachi; Nasar Iqbal of Gujranwala Zone; and Khizar Hayat of Islamabad Zone.
Public Service Emphasis
The spokesperson described promotion as recognition of hard work, integrity and strong performance, and urged the officers to make public service their foremost priority.
The promoted officials were also asked to discharge their professional responsibilities more effectively and ensure more result-oriented action against organised crime.
The latest order records 22 completed promotions. The additional rounds outlined by the spokesperson remain subject to the respective board proceedings and subsequent official decisions.
