ISLAMABAD: The bodies of five foreign mountaineers recovered from Broad Peak were flown from Skardu to Islamabad on Friday following a joint search and recovery operation carried out by Pakistan Army Aviation and ground rescue teams.
Search and Recovery Operation
According to officials, an avalanche struck Broad Peak on July 31, leaving 10 foreign climbers missing in one of the country’s most challenging high-altitude mountaineering regions.
After several days of intensive aerial and ground searches, rescue teams recovered the bodies of five foreign climbers during the latest phase of the operation.
Bodies Shifted to Islamabad
The bodies were wrapped in the national flags of their respective countries before being transported by aircraft from Skardu to Islamabad, where further formalities will be completed before their repatriation.
Search efforts and coordination with the relevant authorities continue regarding the remaining missing climbers.
