Islamabad Police Issues Traffic Plan for Eid Milad-un-Nabi ﷺ
Traffic diversions will affect key routes around G-7, Melody, Aabpara and Suhrawardy Road as the central procession moves from Rehmat Community Centre Ground to Sakhi Mahmood Darbar.
ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Police has issued a special traffic plan for the central procession marking Eid Milad-un-Nabi ﷺ, announcing diversions on several key roads in the federal capital and advising commuters to use designated alternative routes.
Procession Route Announced
According to the traffic plan shared by the Islamabad Police spokesperson, the central procession will begin from Rehmat Community Centre Ground in Sector G-7 and proceed through Jamia Masjid Al-Raza, Jamia Masjid Al-Habib G-7/3, Street 55 and the service road near Iqbal Hall.
The procession will then move towards Saddar Road, Melody Chowk and Aabpara before proceeding along Suhrawardy Road and concluding at Sakhi Mahmood Darbar.
Diversions Around Iqbal Hall
Traffic travelling from Sitara Market towards Iqbal Hall via Saddar Road will be diverted during the procession. Motorists have been advised to use the service road near the Post Office stop, while traffic approaching from the Fire Brigade side may use Suhrawardy Road, Zero Point and Faisal Avenue.
A diversion will also be imposed from Iqbal Hall towards Razia Sharif Plaza via the G-7/3-1 service road, with Seventh Avenue available as an alternative.
Fazl-e-Haq Road Traffic Diversion
Traffic on Fazl-e-Haq Road from China Chowk towards Kulsum Plaza will also be diverted. Commuters travelling through this area have been advised to use Jinnah Avenue.
Another diversion will apply from Shuhada Chowk/GPO Chowk towards Melody and Aabpara Chowk. Motorists may use Shaheed-e-Millat Road as an alternative.
Diversions Around Aabpara and Suhrawardy Road
Traffic movement from Aabpara Chowk along Suhrawardy Road towards Seventh Avenue Chowk will also be diverted. Commuters approaching from Zero Point and Rawalpindi have been advised to use Seventh Avenue, Faisal Avenue and Srinagar Highway.
Commuters Advised to Plan Journeys
Islamabad Traffic Police has asked motorists to plan their journeys accordingly and cooperate with traffic personnel deployed along the affected routes.
Citizens can follow Islamabad Traffic Police’s official social media platforms and listen to ITP FM 92.4 for traffic updates.
The route and several of these alternative corridors are consistent with traffic arrangements used for previous central Eid Milad-un-Nabi ﷺ processions in Islamabad.
