ISLAMABAD: The federal government has announced a nationwide public holiday on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, on the occasion of Eid Milad-un-Nabi ﷺ.

Cabinet Division Issues Notification

The holiday will be observed across the country, with federal government offices and institutions covered by the notification remaining closed in accordance with applicable rules.

Eid Milad-un-Nabi ﷺ Celebrations

Eid Milad-un-Nabi ﷺ is observed to mark the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, with religious gatherings, Milad processions, Seerat conferences, Naat recitations and other commemorative activities traditionally organised across Pakistan.

Official Pakistani holiday information published earlier had listed Eid Milad-un-Nabi ﷺ around August 25 or 26, with the precise date subject to the Islamic lunar calendar and moon sighting.

The announcement of August 26 as the public holiday therefore provides clarity for government offices and institutions ahead of the observance.
