DG Audit Posted as OSD After Flagging Attestation Irregularities
Official notification confirms Ahmed Ali Sirohey’s transfer as OSD, while the Foreign Office rejects reports of a purported internal inquiry into alleged document-attestation irregularities.
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has transferred Director General (CMU/Audit) Ahmed Ali Sirohey and posted him as an Officer on Special Duty (OSD) with immediate effect, according to an official notification dated September 16, 2026.
The notification, No. Estt (II)-34/2/2026, states that Sirohey has been transferred and posted as OSD “with immediate effect and until further orders.” The document does not state a reason for the transfer or link the administrative decision to any inquiry. The Foreign Office’s website had listed Sirohey as Director General (CMU/Audit).
Transfer Comes Amid Reports Over Attestation Process
The transfer has drawn attention because it comes amid media reports concerning alleged irregularities in the Foreign Office’s document-attestation and verification process. Reports claimed that a four-member inquiry headed by Sirohey had examined allegations involving approximately Rs12 billion allegedly collected from citizens through unofficial channels over a one-year period. Those claims have not been independently established.
However, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has publicly disputed the central claims surrounding the reported inquiry. During its September 17 press briefing, the Foreign Office spokesperson said the ministry had “no information or record” concerning the purported inquiry referred to by journalists and rejected the reported allegations as “unverified and baseless.”
The spokesperson also said the ministry processes around 17,000 to 18,000 document attestations daily through its headquarters and camp offices. According to the ministry, Rs3.4 billion has been generated through the attestation system over the past two years, while documentation and payments are handled electronically.
Therefore, while Sirohey’s transfer and posting as OSD are confirmed by the notification, the claim that he was transferred because of the reported inquiry has not been established by the notification itself and is disputed in the Foreign Office’s public response.
