Kashmir Solidarity Protest in Islamabad Leads to FIR Under ATA, Public Order Laws
Police say 400–500 people participated in the F-10 Markaz protest, alleging road blockades, damage to public and private property, attacks on police personnel and a media DSNG vehicle. The case has been registered under the Anti-Terrorism Act, the Peaceful Assembly and Public Order Act, and other relevant legal provisions.
ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Police have registered a criminal case against Opposition Alliance spokesperson Akhunzada Hussain Yousafzai, Senator Mushtaq Ahmad, and other participants following a protest held in F-10 Markaz in support of the people of Kashmir.
Police Allegations
According to the First Information Report (FIR) lodged at Shalimar Police Station, the demonstration attracted approximately 400 to 500 participants. Police allege that protesters blocked the main road, disrupting the flow of traffic despite repeated warnings to disperse.
The FIR further claims that some participants resisted police officials, damaged government vehicles, and attacked a media DSNG vehicle, causing damage. Police also allege that stones were thrown during the protest, resulting in injuries to police personnel.
According to the FIR, the case has been registered under multiple sections of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC), the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA), and the Peaceful Assembly and Public Order Act, 2024.
Investigation Ongoing
Police maintain that legal proceedings have been initiated in accordance with the law, while the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
No official response from Akhunzada Hussain Yousafzai, Senator Mushtaq Ahmad, or their legal representatives regarding the FIR had been issued at the time this report was published.
