FIA Probe Reveals Major Human Placenta Smuggling Network Linked to Anti-Aging Injection Trade

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has uncovered significant details during its investigation into an alleged human placenta smuggling network, with officials suspecting that the illegally collected tissue was being exported for the production of high-value anti-aging injections.
According to FIA sources, the injections manufactured from human placenta can reportedly sell for as much as Rs700,000 in the Pakistani market. Investigators believe the smuggling operation involved the systematic collection and export of human placenta obtained from hospitals.
The investigation has identified alleged agents operating in Lahore, Peshawar, and Rawalpindi, while authorities have also expanded the probe to examine the possible involvement of customs officials and waste management companies responsible for handling medical waste.
Sources further revealed that a 100-kilogram shipment of human placenta destined for Vietnam was intercepted before export. Investigators are also examining whether any customs personnel facilitated the movement of the consignment.
According to preliminary findings, nearly 200 kilograms of human placenta were allegedly collected every month from various hospitals as part of the suspected network.
The FIA investigation is ongoing, and authorities are working to identify all individuals and organizations involved. No final conclusions have yet been announced, and legal proceedings will determine individual responsibility.
