After AC Complaints Go Viral, CDA Hospital Issues WhatsApp Restriction

Staff directed to report maintenance and operational issues through official channels; violations may lead to disciplinary action under CDA Employees Service Regulations, 1992.

ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA)-run Capital Hospital has introduced a new communication policy directing all officers and officials to stop sharing internal operational and maintenance issues on unofficial WhatsApp groups and social media platforms, following concerns over the circulation of complaints related to the hospital’s air-conditioning and cooling systems.

According to an office memorandum issued by the Executive Director of Capital Hospital, Dr. Muhammad Naeem Taj, on July 1, 2026, the administration observed that operational and maintenance matters, including complaints regarding air-conditioning and cooling systems, were being circulated through unofficial WhatsApp groups and social media instead of being reported through the hospital’s official reporting mechanism.

The memorandum advises all hospital officials that issues related to infrastructure, maintenance, utilities, equipment malfunction, and service interruptions must be reported through designated official channels. These include the relevant department heads, the hospital administration, the Engineering Wing, or the Maintenance Department to ensure prompt resolution.

The hospital administration stated that the dissemination of internal operational matters on unofficial communication platforms could lead to misinformation, create unnecessary concern among staff and patients, and adversely affect the professional image of the institution.

Under the new communication policy, employees have been instructed to refrain from posting internal operational issues on unofficial WhatsApp groups or social media and instead use the established reporting and escalation mechanisms available within the hospital.

The memorandum further warns that failure to comply with these instructions will be viewed seriously and may result in disciplinary proceedings under the CDA Employees Service Regulations, 1992.

While the notification does not prohibit employees from reporting genuine operational issues, it requires such complaints to be communicated through official institutional channels rather than unofficial digital platforms.
