ATC Summons 60 Suspects After Identity Parade in Kashmir Protest Case

Islamabad Police sought production of 60 detainees after completing their identification process in the F-10 Kashmir protest case; the Anti-Terrorism Court ordered them to be brought before the court on Saturday.

ISLAMABAD: An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Islamabad has ordered 60 suspects to be produced before the court after police completed their identification parade in a case registered over a Kashmir-related protest in Sector F-10, according to court documents reviewed by Islamabad Tribune.

60 Suspects to Appear Before ATC

The latest court proceedings concern dozens of people detained in connection with the protest at F-10 Markaz.

Islamabad Police informed the court that the identification parade of 60 arrested individuals had been completed and sought permission for their production before the court.

The court subsequently directed that the 60 suspects be produced before the Anti-Terrorism Court on Saturday, August 22.

95 People Held in Identification Proceedings

According to the material provided to Islamabad Tribune, 95 arrested individuals have been held in connection with the identification-parade proceedings, while police have now sought the production of 60 whose identification process has been completed.

The case was registered at Shalimar Police Station following the Kashmir solidarity protest in F-10 Markaz.

Earlier reporting confirms that the FIR was registered on July 31 and that former senator Mushtaq Ahmad Khan was among those booked in connection with the demonstration.

Police Allegations Under Investigation

Police allegations in the case include road blockades, disruption of traffic, forced closure of businesses and incidents involving police and media personnel.

These remain allegations contained in the police case and have not, by themselves, established criminal liability against any individual.

The identification process has been continuing for several days.

On August 19, Dawn reported that the ATC had given police two additional days to complete identification proceedings after the court was informed that the process involving 88 accused sent for identification had not yet been completed.

Case Remains Before Court

The latest development represents a further procedural step in the case, with 60 detainees now set to be brought before the ATC following completion of their identification parade.

Former senator Mushtaq Ahmad Khan has separately faced proceedings in the same protest case. Earlier this month, the ATC initially granted police a three-day physical remand and subsequently extended his remand by four days after prosecutors sought additional time for investigation and alleged recoveries.

The case remains before the courts, and the allegations against the accused are subject to judicial determination.
