Zain Asim Appointed Islamabad SSP Investigation With Diverse Policing Experience

The 44th Common officer, who secured first position in his PSP batch’s inter-se seniority list, brings experience in investigation, field policing and security administration.

ISLAMABAD: Zain Asim, a Police Service of Pakistan (PSP) officer with experience in investigation, security and field policing, has been appointed Senior Superintendent of Police Investigation in the federal capital.

Inspector General of Police Islamabad Captain (Retired) Muhammad Sohail Chaudhry issued the notification on November 6, assigning the BS-18 officer to the post with immediate effect and until further orders.

According to the notification, Asim, who was awaiting posting, has been appointed SSP Investigation on an own-pay-scale basis, relieving Suleman Zaffar of the charge.

PSP Batch Distinction and Professional Background

An officer of the 44th Common Training Programme, Asim secured first position in the inter-se seniority list of PSP probationers of his batch. The distinction reflects his combined standing across the competitive examination and prescribed training and assessment components, marking a strong start to his police career.

His appointment brings an officer with a varied professional background to the capital’s investigation wing. Over the course of his service, he has held field and investigation assignments in Quetta and Lahore, served in security administration and been assigned to the Pakistan Cricket Board on deputation.

Asim joined the police service in September 2016 and subsequently underwent specialised training at the National Police Academy. He was promoted to the rank of Superintendent of Police in January 2022, following which his services were placed at the disposal of the Punjab government.

Field and Investigation Assignments

His early field experience included an assignment as Assistant Superintendent of Police and Sub-Divisional Police Officer of Shalkot Circle in Quetta. The posting involved supervision of police work at the circle level and provided experience in the operational environment of the Balochistan capital.

He later served in Lahore’s investigation establishment, holding assignments as Additional SP Investigation in Saddar and Model Town. These positions added urban investigation experience to his earlier field service, involving supervision of investigative work within divisional police structures.

Security Administration and PCB Deputation

His professional responsibilities also extended to security administration. In January 2023, he was posted as SP Security at the Punjab Chief Minister’s Office.

In February 2024, the Establishment Division placed his services at the disposal of the Pakistan Cricket Board on deputation for two years, subject to the terms of the notification and further orders. The assignment broadened his service exposure beyond conventional district policing.

His services were subsequently reported to have been placed at the disposal of the Federal Investigation Agency in January 2026.

Connection with Islamabad Police Operations

Asim is a batchmate of Islamabad SSP Operations Captain (Retired) Qazi Ali Raza, with both officers belonging to the 44th Common. Their shared training background forms a professional connection between officers assigned to the capital’s operations and investigation portfolios.

The new assignment draws on Asim’s experience across field policing, investigation and security duties. His first-place standing in his PSP batch’s inter-se seniority list is a notable distinction in a service record that now includes a senior investigation appointment in the federal capital.

The notification has been circulated to the relevant senior officers and establishment offices of Islamabad Police for immediate compliance.
