China Gifts Islamabad 21 Modern Fire and Rescue Vehicles Worth Rs3 Billion

ISLAMABAD: China has announced that it will gift Islamabad a modern fleet of 21 fire and rescue vehicles worth approximately Rs3 billion, marking a significant upgrade to the federal capital’s emergency response infrastructure.
The announcement was made by the Chinese Embassy in Pakistan through its official social media account, which said the initiative reflected the two countries’ shared commitment to public safety and disaster resilience. The embassy said the fleet is scheduled to arrive in Islamabad during September.
88-Metre Snorkel Tender Among Key Equipment
A major component of the new fleet will be an advanced 88-metre snorkel tender, specialised equipment capable of supporting emergency and rescue operations at considerable heights. The addition is expected to enhance Islamabad’s ability to respond to emergencies involving high-rise buildings, an increasingly important requirement as vertical development expands across the capital.
According to the Chinese Embassy, the 21 vehicles are intended to modernise Islamabad’s emergency response infrastructure and strengthen the city’s capacity to deal with emergencies and disasters.
The embassy described the initiative as another reflection of the longstanding Pakistan-China All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership, highlighting cooperation aimed at serving and protecting communities.
The planned arrival of the fleet also puts renewed attention on the capital’s emergency preparedness and the availability of specialised equipment for complex rescue operations. Once deployed, the new vehicles,particularly the 88-metre snorkel tender could substantially expand the operational reach of emergency teams responding to incidents in taller buildings.
The Chinese Embassy’s announcement specifies the fleet’s value, number of vehicles and expected arrival this month, although detailed information about the individual types of the remaining vehicles and their eventual deployment across Islamabad has not yet been publicly outlined in the material reviewed.
