IHC Reshuffles Islamabad District Courts, Transfers Judges
Chief Justice orders transfers across the Islamabad Judicial Service, designates a dedicated court for gender-based violence cases, and approves new postings for senior civil judges and magistrates.
ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has announced a major administrative reshuffle in the Islamabad Judicial Service, transferring several judges and issuing fresh postings aimed at strengthening judicial administration and improving case management across the federal capital.
According to official notifications issued on the directions of the Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court, four Additional District & Sessions Judges have been transferred between the East and West Session Divisions.
Additional District & Sessions Judges Transferred
Under the new postings:
- Additional District & Sessions Judge Muhammad Sohail has been transferred from the West Session Division to the East Session Division.
- Additional District & Sessions Judge Javed Iqbal Sapra has also been moved from West to East.
- Additional District & Sessions Judge Raja Asif Mahmood has been transferred from the East Session Division to the West Session Division.
- Additional District & Sessions Judge Qudrat Ullah has also been reassigned from East to West.
In a key administrative decision, the Chief Justice has designated the court of Additional District & Sessions Judge (West) Muhammad Afzal Majoaka exclusively to hear Gender-Based Violence (GBV) cases. The move is intended to ensure specialised handling of such cases and improve the efficiency of related judicial proceedings.
Further Transfers and Administrative Reorganisation
The reshuffle also includes the transfer of two Senior Civil Judges.
- Senior Civil Judge Muhammad Abbas Shah has been moved from the Civil District & Session Division West to East.
- Senior Civil Judge Malik Aman has been transferred from East to West.
Additionally, transfer and posting orders have been issued for 14 Civil Judge-cum-Magistrates, completing a wider administrative reorganisation within the Islamabad district judiciary.
The latest changes are expected to enhance the distribution of judicial workload, improve court administration, and support the efficient disposal of cases across Islamabad’s district courts.
