Big Boost for Pakistani Students as Four New Engineering Technology Programmes Launched
EU and Germany support new Level-6 programmes in civil, mechanical, electrical and electronics engineering technology
ISLAMABAD : Pakistan has launched four new undergraduate programmes in engineering technology as part of efforts to strengthen technical education and equip young people with skills suited to national and international job markets.
New Level-6 Programmes Cover Four Engineering Fields
The new Level-6 programmes cover civil, mechanical, electrical and electronics engineering technology. They have been developed in the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) sector under the Sector Support Programme (SSP), with financial assistance from the European Union and the Federal Republic of Germany.
NUTECH, NTC and GIZ Collaborate on Initiative
The initiative is being implemented by the National University of Technology (NUTECH) in collaboration with the National Technology Council (NTC) and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ).
Programmes Designed to Meet Industry Requirements
Officials said the programmes are designed to improve the quality and relevance of engineering technology education in Pakistan while bringing academic qualifications closer to the requirements of modern industries and international labour markets.
NUTECH Supports Qualification Development and Training
NUTECH has played a central role in developing the Level-6 qualifications and supporting their implementation through faculty coaching and mentoring, laboratory upgrades and Training of Trainers (ToT) programmes.

Project Director Engr Naveed Yusuf briefed participants on the development process, major milestones and implementation timeline of the project.
NUTECH Rector Highlights International Partnerships
NUTECH Rector Moazzam Ejaz appreciated the contributions of participating institutions and thanked the European Union and Germany for their support. He emphasised the importance of national and international partnerships in strengthening Pakistan’s technical and technology education ecosystem.
Germany Highlights Employment Opportunities for Youth
Deputy Head of Development Cooperation at the German Embassy Dr Manuel Winkenbach said the initiative could expand employment opportunities for Pakistani youth both domestically and internationally. He reaffirmed Germany’s commitment to supporting quality TVET and skills development in Pakistan.
EU Reaffirms Support for TVET Sector
European Union Head of Cooperation Jeroen Willems reaffirmed the EU’s continued support for Pakistan’s TVET sector and stressed the importance of implementing the new Level-6 qualifications and curricula in an inclusive and coordinated manner across the country.
New Programmes to Strengthen Education-Industry Linkages
Officials said the initiative is expected to strengthen connections between education, industry and employment, while giving Pakistani youth access to advanced, industry-oriented engineering technology skills.
