Mohsin Naqvi, US Envoy Discuss Joint Action Against Organised Crime

ISLAMABAD: Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met US Chargé d’Affaires Natalie Baker in Islamabad, with the two sides discussing the regional situation, peace and stability, Pakistan-US bilateral cooperation and closer coordination in key security-related areas.

Pakistan-US Cooperation on Law Enforcement

According to details shared by the Ministry of Interior, the meeting included discussions on expanding cooperation between Pakistan and the United States across different sectors, with particular attention to institutional collaboration between law-enforcement agencies.

The two sides also discussed exchange programmes and training opportunities for police officers, reflecting an emphasis on strengthening professional capacity and institutional links between the two countries.

Focus on Organised Crime and Human Smuggling

The meeting further focused on challenges posed by organised crime, narcotics trafficking and human smuggling. Both sides agreed on the need to enhance mutual cooperation in addressing these cross-border challenges.

Baker Praises Asim Munir’s Regional Role

Baker also praised the positive diplomatic role played by Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir in promoting peace and stability in the region, according to the information released about the meeting.

Continued Pakistan-US Security Engagement

The discussions come against the backdrop of continuing Pakistan-US engagement on regional stability and law-enforcement cooperation. Earlier engagements between Naqvi and Baker have also covered bilateral relations, security collaboration and strengthening the capacity of Pakistani law-enforcement institutions.

Federal Interior Secretary Ahmad Raza Sarwar was also present during the meeting.
