Social Media Personality Shamsu Bibi’s Killing Traced, Five Arrested

Victim’s father, brother and three relatives among those detained; police say 100-plus CCTV cameras and other investigative resources were examined

RAWALPINDI: Rawalpindi Police have arrested five people, including the father and brother of social media personality Shamsu Bibi, also known as Ayesha Gulamna, in connection with her killing, officials said.

Five Suspects Taken Into Custody

According to police, the other three suspects are identified as the victim’s cousin Ehsan, her father’s uncle Rozi Khan, and Ehsan’s son Yasin.

Police said multiple special teams had been working on the case on the directions of City Police Officer (CPO) Hassan Mushtaq Sukhera. Investigators reportedly examined footage from more than 100 CCTV cameras and used human intelligence and other investigative resources to trace the suspects.

Father and Brother Included in Investigation

During the investigation, police expanded the scope of questioning after examining the circumstances surrounding the killing and included the victim’s father and brother in the investigation.

According to preliminary police findings, the suspects allegedly conspired with others to kill Ayesha and attempted to mislead investigators by creating a false narrative surrounding the incident.

Police Suspect Honour Motive

Police said the initial investigation indicates that the killing may have been carried out in the name of honour. However, investigators said further questioning could reveal additional details and motives.

All five suspects have been taken into custody on the basis of evidence collected during the investigation, police said.

Investigation Continues

Taxila Police have continued efforts to trace those allegedly involved since the incident, with investigators maintaining that professional investigation and evidence collection led to the identification and arrest of the suspects.

Police said the suspects would be presented before the relevant court and that a challan would be submitted on the basis of available evidence, with further legal proceedings to follow.

The investigation remains ongoing, and police said additional revelations could emerge as questioning of the suspects continues.
