HEC Launches AI Leadership Training for Public Sector Officials
Executive programme, organised with MoITT and Alibaba Cloud, aims to strengthen digital leadership and accelerate AI-driven transformation across public institutions.
ISLAMABAD: The Higher Education Commission (HEC), in collaboration with the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoITT) and Alibaba Cloud Intelligence Group, organised a full-day executive training programme titled “AI for Public Sector Leaders” at HEC headquarters in Islamabad.
Focus on AI-Driven Governance
The training was held in line with the Prime Minister’s directive to advance digital transformation across federal ministries, divisions and public sector entities. Members of HEC’s Senior Management Committee attended the session, which focused on the strategic use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in governance, institutional transformation and evidence-based decision-making.
The programme was conducted by Dr. Jawad Shah, Senior Solution Architect (Big Data & AI) at Alibaba Cloud, Singapore. Executive Director HEC Dr. Zia Ul Haq also attended the training session. Participants explored AI applications in the public sector, data-driven governance, implementation challenges and opportunities to improve organisational performance through emerging technologies.
HEC Reaffirms Commitment to Digital Transformation
Speaking at the event, HEC Chairman Prof. Dr. Niaz Ahmad Akhtar said embracing Artificial Intelligence is essential for improving institutional efficiency, innovation and evidence-based governance. He reaffirmed HEC’s commitment to strengthening digital capabilities and equipping its leadership to navigate the rapidly evolving technological landscape.
The initiative reflects HEC’s continued efforts to promote digital transformation, build AI capacity within public institutions and modernise higher education governance in Pakistan.
