Ramna Police Escape Gun Attack as Robbery Suspect Wounded by Own Accomplices
Police say the detained suspect was being taken after a recovery operation linked to a purse-snatching case when his armed accomplices allegedly opened indiscriminate fire, injuring him while officers remained unharmed due to protective gear.

ISLAMABAD: A police team came under gunfire in the jurisdiction of Ramna Police Station during a recovery operation on Friday, with a detained robbery suspect sustaining injuries after allegedly being hit by bullets fired by his own accomplices.
Police Team Attacked During Recovery Operation
According to Islamabad Police, the suspect, identified as Adnan Ali, and his wife, Paras Bibi, had been arrested in connection with a purse-snatching incident involving a woman in the Ramna area.
Police said the team was returning after conducting a recovery based on the suspect’s disclosure and pointation when armed accomplices, who were allegedly lying in wait along the route, opened indiscriminate fire on the police party.
During the exchange, Adnan Ali was reportedly struck by bullets fired by his own associates. Police officers remained unharmed due to the use of bulletproof jackets and other protective measures.
The injured suspect was shifted to a hospital for medical treatment.
Recovery and Investigation
Police further stated that two mobile phones allegedly stolen during the robbery were recovered, along with the motorcycle used in the crime and an illegal weapon with ammunition.
Authorities said further investigation is underway to identify and arrest the attackers involved in the firing.
