ISLAMABAD: Authorities in the federal capital have reportedly decided to launch a large-scale operation against illegal encroachments and informal settlements in various sectors of Islamabad.According to sources, the Capital Development Authority (CDA), district administration and Islamabad Police have finalized an operational framework and forwarded it to the Ministry of Interior for approval.Sources said the operation will involve personnel from Islamabad Police, CDA Enforcement, Frontier Constabulary (FC), Rangers and other law enforcement agencies.In the first phase, action is expected against several katchi abadis located in sectors including G-7, I-9 and Mehrabadi. Authorities plan to begin the process by issuing notices to illegal occupants through CDA Enforcement teams.The notices will reportedly direct residents and encroachers to vacate the settlements voluntarily within a specified period of one month.Sources further stated that if the encroachments are not removed after the notice period, authorities may initiate a full-scale operation using heavy machinery to clear the areas.Officials have yet to issue an official public statement regarding the timeline of the operation.
