Islamabad Model Jail Enters Final Construction Phase

Islamabad: Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) Sohail Ashraf visited the under-construction Islamabad Model Jail in Sector H-16 to inspect ongoing development work and review the project’s progress.
During the visit, project officials briefed the chairman that construction of the administration block has entered its final stage. Barracks No. 1 and 2 have been completed, while Barrack No. 3 is around 95 percent complete. Officials also informed the chairman that all electrical and sanitary works inside the completed barracks have been finalized.
According to the briefing, construction of the model jail’s hospital, watchtowers and security posts has also been completed. Work on the remaining boundary walls is continuing, while sewerage, drainage, footpaths and other external infrastructure are being completed at an accelerated pace. Streetlight poles have already been installed across the facility.
Officials further stated that measures are being taken to ensure a reliable water supply, while work on a filtration plant for safe drinking water is also underway. The PC-I for Phase-II of the Islamabad Model Jail has been prepared, and construction is expected to commence during the new financial year.
Chairman CDA Sohail Ashraf directed the project team to ensure the highest construction standards and complete all remaining works at the earliest. He also instructed the project director and relevant officers to maintain effective supervision throughout the project’s completion.
