Pakistan Sets July 10 Deadline for Action Against Illegal Afghan Nationals

Islamabad: The Ministry of Interior has directed authorities across Pakistan to launch strict enforcement against illegally residing foreign nationals, particularly Afghan nationals without valid visas or legal documents, under the government’s Illegal Foreigners Repatriation Plan (IFRP).

According to an official notification issued by the ministry, all provincial chief secretaries, inspectors general of police, the Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Deputy Commissioner Islamabad and other relevant authorities have been instructed to ensure full implementation of the government’s directives. The notification sets July 10, 2026, as the date from which enforcement action, including the arrest of illegally residing Afghan nationals, will begin.

The ministry has declared the implementation of the IFRP a top priority, directing all concerned departments to coordinate closely and ensure that no unauthorized foreign national remains in the country in violation of immigration laws. Authorities have been instructed to identify, detain and process individuals who are unable to produce valid visas, residence permits or other legal documentation.

The notification further states that daily reports on arrests, detentions and enforcement actions must be submitted to the Ministry of Interior from July 11, 2026, allowing the federal government to monitor the progress of the nationwide operation.

The latest directive is part of the government’s broader policy aimed at regulating the presence of foreign nationals in Pakistan and strengthening immigration enforcement. Officials have been instructed to carry out the operation in accordance with applicable laws and established procedures while ensuring effective coordination among all provincial administrations and law enforcement agencies.

The nationwide crackdown is expected to involve police, district administrations and other relevant departments across all four provinces, Islamabad Capital Territory, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan as authorities move to implement the government’s repatriation plan.
