Rawal Dam Spillways to Open at 2pm as Water Level Rises
Islamabad administration places Rescue 1122, police and relevant departments on alert and advises residents to stay away from streams and low-lying areas.

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad district administration has decided to open the spillways of Rawal Dam at 2pm on Tuesday, September 1, following a rise in the reservoir’s water level amid heavy rainfall in Islamabad and surrounding areas.
According to the district administration, the water level at Rawal Dam has reached 1,751.90 feet, prompting the decision to open the spillways.
The administration said Rescue 1122, police and other relevant departments have been directed to remain on alert during the opening of the spillways and ensure that necessary precautionary measures are in place beforehand.
Residents have also been advised to avoid going near streams, waterways and low-lying areas as a precaution.
The latest development comes as heavy rainfall continues to affect Islamabad and adjoining areas, increasing water flows into the reservoir.
