Federal Government Schools Fail to Secure Top Position in FBISE Results

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE) on Wednesday announced the results of the Secondary School Certificate (SSC Part-I and Part-II) First Annual Examination 2026, with no student from the Federal Government Educational Institutions (FGEIs) securing a position in the overall merit list.

The results were announced during a ceremony held at the FBISE headquarters in Islamabad. Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui attended the event as the chief guest, while FBISE Chairman Prof. Dr. Ikram Ali Malik welcomed students, parents, principals, educationists and board officials.

In his address, the chairman highlighted the Board’s efforts to ensure transparency, fairness and efficient conduct of the examinations before congratulating successful candidates. The education minister also praised the achievements of high-performing students and encouraged them to continue pursuing academic excellence.

Examination Statistics

According to official figures:

• 292,831 students appeared in the examinations.
• 150,077 candidates appeared in SSC-I.
• 141,653 candidates appeared in SSC-II.

To ensure the smooth conduct of the examinations, the Board established 1,006 examination centres across Pakistan and overseas. A total of 2,012 supervisory staff and 6,996 invigilators were deployed. For paper marking, 10,706 teachers applied, of whom 4,855 examiners were appointed to assess answer scripts.

Overall Performance

The overall pass percentage for SSC Part-I stood at 59.77%, with 88,646 of the 150,077 candidates qualifying the examination.

For SSC Part-II, 128,070 out of 141,653 candidates passed, resulting in an overall pass percentage of 91.33%. The Board noted that regular students recorded a significantly higher success rate than private candidates.

Science Group Position Holders

The top three positions in the Science Group were secured by students from Army Public Schools and Fazaia institutions:

• First Position: Afira Aijaz, Army Public School & College Girls, Pasban Rawalpindi Cantonment — 1,089 marks
• Second Position: Amna Nauman, Army Public School & College, Muzaffarabad (AJK) — 1,088 marks
• Third Position: Huzaifa Haider, Fazaia Inter College, Jinnah Camp, Khanna Road, Rawalpindi Cantonment — 1,086 marks

Humanities Group Position Holders

In the Humanities Group:

• First Position: Fatima Zahra, CB Public Girls School & College, Wah Cantt — 1,037 marks
• Second Position (Shared):
  • Muhammad Maaz, Institute of Islamic Sciences, Satra Meel, Islamabad — 1,031 marks
  • Manal Zahid, DHA Senior School for Girls, Lahore Cantt — 1,031 marks
• Third Position: Aneesa Nisar, Pakistan Education Academy, Dubai (UAE) — 1,023 marks

No FGEI Student Makes Merit List

Despite thousands of candidates appearing from Federal Government Educational Institutions (FGEIs), no student from the federal government school system secured a place among the overall position holders. The top merit positions were claimed by students from Army Public Schools, Fazaia institutions and other educational establishments.

86 Unfair Means Cases Reported

The Board also reported 86 Unfair Means (UFM) cases during the examinations. According to FBISE, each case was reviewed by the relevant disciplinary committee after giving candidates an opportunity to present their defence.

Penalties included:

• Cancellation of individual papers.
• Monetary fines.
• Cancellation of the entire examination.
• Temporary disqualification in more serious cases.

Several students were also cleared after review.

Second Annual Examination

FBISE announced that candidates wishing to improve their grades, as well as those who failed or remained absent, will be eligible to appear in the Second Annual Examination 2026 in accordance with the Board’s regulations.

Students can access their results through the official FBISE website, SMS service and their respective educational institutions, while detailed result cards are being dispatched to schools and private candidates across the country.
