Federal Government Replaces Interior Secretary Khurram Agha
BS-22 PAS officer Capt. (Retd.) Muhammad Khurram Agha has been directed to report to the Establishment Division, while Ahmad Raza Sarwar has been appointed as the new Federal Secretary for Interior and Narcotics Control.
ISLAMABAD: The federal government has reshuffled the country’s top bureaucracy by replacing Federal Secretary for Interior and Narcotics Control, Capt. (Retd.) Muhammad Khurram Agha, and appointing BS-22 Pakistan Administrative Service (PAS) officer Ahmad Raza Sarwar as the new Interior Secretary.
According to an official notification issued by the Establishment Division on July 29, 2026, Capt. (Retd.) Muhammad Khurram Agha has been transferred from the Ministry of Interior and Narcotics Control Division and directed to report to the Establishment Division with immediate effect and until further orders.
Ahmad Raza Sarwar Appointed Interior Secretary
In a separate notification, Ahmad Raza Sarwar, a BS-22 officer of the Pakistan Administrative Service, has been posted and appointed as Secretary, Interior and Narcotics Control Division. Prior to his new assignment, Sarwar was serving in the Government of Punjab.
The notifications, issued by the Establishment Division, form part of the federal government’s latest administrative reshuffle involving senior civil servants.
Transfer to Take Immediate Effect
Capt. (Retd.) Muhammad Khurram Agha had been serving as Secretary Interior, overseeing key matters related to internal security, immigration, law and order, and narcotics control. His successor, Ahmad Raza Sarwar, is expected to assume charge immediately following the issuance of the official orders.
The transfer and appointment notifications will be published in the next issue of the Gazette of Pakistan, in accordance with the government’s administrative procedures.
