Islamabad Weather Alert: Heavy Rain, Flash Flooding Feared
PMD forecasts rain and thunderstorms across Islamabad and adjoining areas, warning that heavy downpours may cause water accumulation in low-lying localities and raise flows in local streams and nullahs.

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has warned of further rain and thunderstorms in Islamabad and surrounding areas, with heavy downpours potentially triggering urban flooding and increased flows in local streams and nullahs.
Rain Expected in Islamabad, Nearby Areas
According to the latest weather alert, rain is expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Taxila and Wah Cantt during the next two to four hours, while Attock, Jhelum, Murree, Galiyat and Gujranwala may also experience further rain accompanied by thunderstorms.
The warning comes amid an active wet spell affecting Islamabad and upper Punjab.
PMD’s Flood Forecasting Division said widespread rain-wind/thunderstorms, with isolated heavy falls, were expected over Islamabad and parts of upper Punjab.
The official outlook specifically includes Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum and Gujranwala among areas likely to receive rain.
Urban Flooding Risk
Authorities are particularly concerned about intense rainfall over a short period.
The Flood Forecasting Division has warned of urban flooding in Rawalpindi and Gujranwala during the prevailing weather spell.
The risk is significant after heavy rainfall recently caused waterlogging and flooding in parts of the twin cities, with streets and homes in low-lying localities affected.
Residents Advised to Remain Cautious
Residents have been advised to exercise caution, particularly around low-lying areas, storm-water drains and local nullahs, and to remain updated through official weather information as conditions may change rapidly.
As of Wednesday morning, current forecast data for Islamabad continued to indicate thunderstorm conditions, reinforcing the possibility of further unsettled weather during the day.
