Monsoon Spell to Bring Rain Relief to Islamabad from July 1

ISLAMABAD: Relief from the ongoing heatwave is expected as the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast the first regular spell of monsoon rains from July 1 to July 6 across several parts of the country, including Islamabad.
According to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), widespread rain accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms is expected in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, northern Balochistan and upper Sindh during the forecast period.
Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiyat, Lahore, Gujranwala, Sialkot and several other districts of Punjab are likely to receive intermittent rainfall, while heavy downpours are expected at isolated locations.
The NDMA has warned that intense rainfall could trigger urban flooding in low-lying areas, flash floods in local streams and nullahs, and landslides in hilly regions. Authorities have been directed to take precautionary measures to minimize potential risks.
Citizens, particularly tourists visiting northern and mountainous areas, have been advised to stay updated with weather advisories, avoid unnecessary travel during heavy rain, and follow instructions issued by local administrations and emergency services.
