Armed Robbery Reported at Assistant Commissioner’s G-13 Residence

Five unidentified suspects reportedly entered the G-13/4 residence of a Karachi-posted assistant commissioner, confined family members inside a room and escaped with valuables.

ISLAMABAD, October 14, 2026: A reported armed robbery at the Islamabad residence of Assistant Commissioner Babar, currently posted in Karachi, has raised fresh concerns about residential security in the federal capital.

According to preliminary information obtained from sources, five unidentified armed men allegedly entered the officer’s residence in Sector G-13/4, an area falling within the jurisdiction of Sumbal Police Station.

The suspects reportedly threatened the family members with weapons before confining them inside a room. The intruders then allegedly searched the residence, collected valuable belongings and escaped.

Suspects’ Appearance and Conversation

Sources familiar with the reported incident disclosed that one of the five suspects was wearing grey-coloured clothing, a detail that could potentially assist investigators in identifying those involved.

The sources further claimed that the suspects were communicating with one another in the Saraiki language during the incident.

However, the reported use of a particular language does not establish the suspects’ identities, geographical origins or affiliations. These details remain subject to verification through witness statements and investigative evidence.

Valuables Taken From Residence

Although the suspects reportedly escaped with valuable belongings, the exact nature and estimated financial value of the missing items have not yet been independently established.

It also remains unclear how the suspects gained access to the residence, how long they remained inside, and whether any surveillance cameras recorded their movements.

No independently verified information was immediately available regarding injuries to family members.

Police Investigation and Security Concerns

The reported incident falls within the jurisdiction of Sumbal Police Station, which serves Islamabad’s G-13 area.

As of the latest information available, the registration of a First Information Report (FIR), identification of suspects, arrests or recovery of stolen belongings could not be independently confirmed.

An official statement from Islamabad Police specifically addressing this reported incident was also not available at the time of preparation.

The incident comes amid wider concerns over residential robberies and other property-related offences in Islamabad.

According to police figures reported by Dawn on October 10, a total of 4,504 cases involving robberies, burglaries, thefts, vehicle thefts and related offences were registered across Islamabad between January 1 and September 30, 2026. Of these, 518 incidents occurred at residential premises.

The figures underscore the importance of effective neighbourhood surveillance, timely investigations and sustained policing in residential sectors.

For the reported G-13/4 incident, examination of available surveillance footage, collection of witness statements and verification of the suspects’ movements would be important steps in establishing what occurred.

The reported entry of five armed individuals into a residential property and the confinement of family members have renewed attention to household security in the federal capital.

Further information regarding the suspects, the reported loss of valuables and the status of police proceedings remains subject to official confirmation.

Islamabad Tribune will update the report as further verified information becomes available.
