SSP Investigation Suleman Zafar announces the arrest of 88 suspects linked to 19 organised groups during three months of operations, as recovered vehicles, motorcycles and valuables are returned to their rightful owners.

ISLAMABAD, October 9, 2026: Islamabad Police have reported the recovery of stolen property valued at more than Rs160 million during a three-month operation against organised criminal groups involved in vehicle theft, robberies and other serious offences across the federal capital.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Investigation Suleman Zafar disclosed the results during a press conference at Police Lines Headquarters, where recovered vehicles, motorcycles and other valuables were also handed over to their rightful owners.
According to the Islamabad Police spokesperson, the Robbery and Dacoity Unit (RDU) and Anti-Vehicle Lifting Unit (AVLU) carried out multiple operations over the past three months, leading to the arrest of 88 suspects associated with 19 organised groups.
The recovered property included cars, motorcycles, cash, gold jewellery, laptops, expensive mobile phones and other valuable belongings.
Robbery and Dacoity Unit Arrests 61 Suspects
Providing details of the operations, SSP Suleman Zafar said the Robbery and Dacoity Unit arrested 61 suspects, including 30 alleged members of eight organised groups.
The unit recovered property valued at more than Rs72.9 million during operations targeting individuals allegedly involved in robberies, theft and related offences.
According to the spokesperson, the recoveries included cash, jewellery, electronic devices and other items belonging to citizens who had reported losing their belongings in criminal incidents.
Anti-Vehicle Lifting Unit Recovers 35-Plus Cars
The Anti-Vehicle Lifting Unit also reported substantial recoveries during its operations against organised vehicle-theft groups.
Police said the unit arrested 27 suspects allegedly associated with 11 organised groups involved in stealing cars and motorcycles.
During these operations, the AVLU recovered more than 35 vehicles and 21 motorcycles with a combined reported value exceeding Rs88.2 million.
The police described the recoveries as an important development in efforts to trace stolen vehicles and disrupt organised networks operating in Islamabad.
Nine Suspects Arrested in Abduction Cases
Sharing further details of investigations into serious criminal cases, the police spokesperson said nine suspects associated with two groups allegedly involved in abduction-for-ransom cases had been arrested.
Police reported that the abducted individuals were recovered safely and that Rs10.5 million was recovered during the investigations.
The spokesperson also reported the arrest of 16 suspects associated with four groups in robbery and forcible-theft cases, with recoveries valued at Rs106.065 million.
In eight additional cases, police reported the arrest of 14 suspects and the recovery of property worth Rs46.24 million.
These case-specific figures were presented as part of the police briefing and should not be treated as additional amounts on top of the overall recovery total, as the categories and reporting periods may overlap.
Recovered Property Returned to Citizens
A significant part of the event at Police Lines Headquarters was the return of recovered belongings to their legitimate owners.
Vehicles, motorcycles and other valuable items recovered during police investigations were handed over to citizens during the ceremony.
The police spokesperson said the initiative was intended to ensure that property recovered during investigations reached its rightful owners through the appropriate procedures.
The event highlighted the importance of recovering citizens’ belongings alongside identifying and apprehending suspects.
SSP Investigation Pledges Further Operations
Speaking at the press conference, SSP Investigation Suleman Zafar reaffirmed the police department’s commitment to strengthening operations against organised vehicle-theft networks and other groups allegedly involved in property-related offences.
He said enforcement efforts against those involved in stealing vehicles and motorcycles would be intensified.
Islamabad Police maintained that its investigation teams would continue working to recover stolen property, trace organised networks and protect the assets of residents across the federal capital.
The reported arrests and recoveries reflect the police department’s account of its operational performance. The allegations against arrested individuals remain subject to investigation and judicial proceedings, and the suspects are presumed innocent unless proven guilty by a competent court.
